DESCRIPTION:\nExploring the Summer Night Skies at Amerind\nwith astronomy expert Bill Buckingham\nThursday, September 11, 2025     (Please note this event has been rescheduled from August 14th due to weather conditions.)\n6:45 pm – 8:45 pm\nExplore the Museum between 4:00 – 6:00 pm, included with your ticket.\n$20 Adults, $15 Seniors, $10 Members, $5 Youth (under 18)\nCome and experience the Amerind at night, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the vast night sky in Texas Canyon from Bill Buckingham, Executive Director of the 390th Memorial Museum and former Visitors Center Manager, Kitt Peak National Observatory. Bill Buckingham has been providing educational astronomy experiences including programs, workshops, and interactive exhibits since 1982 for families and schools in a variety of museum, planetarium, and observatory settings. Experience a guided tour of the Arizona skies, find your way among the constellations, and use binoculars to view deep space wonders and unusual mythology. Away from light pollution, you’ll be surprised by stargazing without a telescope. Amerind is located in one of the top dark sky regions in the country, great for exploring the night skies!\nWith the Fulton Seminar house as our base camp, light refreshments will be provided. Come early and explore the Museum, open until 6:00 pm and included with your ticket.\nParticipants should bring their own binoculars. Although any kind will do, 7×50 or more powerful, will be best.\nParticipants will receive handouts of sky maps and night sky calendars.\nSpace is limited to 25, so register early.\n*Please note, this program is only possible if the forecast predicts clear skies for the evening.
