This rare beautiful basket was handwoven by Laura Manuel from the Tohono O’odham Nation. This basket measures 8.25″ across and 1″ deep at center.
The Tohono O’odham use Yucca strips and Bear Grass for their baskets. This basket has the addition of red yucca root making it a rare find.
Their baskets are made by coiling clumps of bear grass and stiching the yucca strips to cover the coils relying on the natural colors of the plants.
The Tohono O’odham are from the Sonoran Desert of the Southwest.
