The Amerind Museum presents the 8th Annual Texas Canyon Mountain Bike Race & Fun Ride. Saturday, January 30th is your opportunity to enjoy this awe-inspiring region that is normally closed to bikes. Come out to Amerind and join us for our improved racecourse (debuted last year on a rainy race day-with rave reviews from riders) that will be 50% single track in and around the famous boulders of Texas Canyon!
The Fulton Full Course: Where racers will do four laps (42 miles) of jeep trails and single track. Start time: 10:00 am
The Lockett Rocket Short Course: Racers will do two laps (21 miles) of jeep trails and single track. Start time: 10:10

Open to ages 12-99, Awards will be given to overall male and female winners along with 1st through 3rd place medals in each age division. Overall winners will also be awarded a piece of Native American art.

The Texas Canyon Fun Ride we will have two categories:
The Friends of Amerind Fun Ride: Fun and non-technical 6.2 mile course that covers much of the Amerind Museum property. Riders will get a chance to challenge themselves on the dirt roads in and around the Amerind, while taking in the sights and gaining bragging rights for their efforts. E-bikes, mountain bikes, gravel bikes are all welcome.
Open to ages 8-99. This ride is all about fun! This non-competitive ride will not have awards.
Start time: 9:00 am
Little Tykes Fun Loop: Kids 8 and under can have a blast rolling around a short course of approximately .25 miles under mom and dad’s watchful supervision. This is non-competitive and entirely to let the kids get in on the day’s fun. Participation medals will be given! FREE to participate
Start time: 9:05
We will provide hot coffee and cocoa in the morning to warm you up and get you going before the ride. After the awards ceremony, grab a bite from one of the food vendors, you have earned it! when you’re done, simply show your bike plate number or free guest passes to the admissions desk for free entry into the Amerind Museum, Art Gallery included with registration. Make a day of it!
Participation in the event enables Amerind to further its mission of fostering and promoting knowledge and understanding of the Native Peoples of the Americas through research, education, conservation, and community engagement. So have fun and support a place you love!

The Race Course
The race will be held entirely within Texas Canyon on the Amerind Foundation property. The new and improved course will take you on 2-4 loops of 50% single track and jeep trails in and around the famous boulders of Texas Canyon, an area only open to bikes on race day. Helmets are required. Please remember no dogs and no headsets, in compliance with our insurance requirements. This new racecourse is designed for mountain bikes; e-bikes, gravel bikes and other bikes are welcome to participate in the non-competitive Fun Ride.
Aid Stations – BYOB
This is a BYOB event- bring your own bottle of hydration. You must be 100% self-sufficient. There will be no aid stations on the course.
Registration and Packet Pick-Up
Onsite registration and packet pick-up will begin on race day at 8:00 am. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your start time to allow time to pick up your packet, park, and attach your number plate.
RACE DAY REQUIREMENTS
ALL participants must adhere to the following requirements:
- You must be 100% self-sufficient. There are no water stops, refreshments, or medical assistance at the race.
- Your number plate with timing chip must be fastened to the handlebars and must not be obstructed or covered up in any way.
- Your race is a gun start. Therefore, please be on the line and ready to start.
- Helmets must be worn.
- Participants must follow all instructions of the course marshals. Failure to adhere to course marshal instructions will result in an immediate disqualification
