NEW SEASONAL SCHEDULE: Texas Canyon Nature Preserve Trail System
The summer heat is on the rise, and our concerns for heat exhaustion, lightning-caused wildfires, and thunderstorms have caused us to reconsider our trail system’s annual summer closure. It has not escaped our notice that we only welcome 13 hikers on average in the months of July and August. In light of these concerns and low demand for the trail system, the Texas Canyon Nature Preserve trails will remain closed throughout the summer season and will now reopen Saturday, September 5, Labor Day weekend.
Going forward, the trails will be open eight months each year—from Labor Day weekend through Earth Day in April, 8:30 AM-3:30 PM. Thank you for your understanding as we continue to learn from and steward the Nature Preserve and its trails. Please call the front desk at 520-586-3666 with any questions about the new schedule. Visitor can still enjoy a cool escape to the Amerind Museum and Art Gallery all summer. Museum hours remain unchanged: Tuesday through Sunday, 10:00 AM-4:00 PM. The museum will be closed for Independence Day and Labor Day Monday.
We will look forward to welcoming you back to the trails on
