Creating a Legacy | Dennis Gilpin and Dr. Kelly Hays-Gilpin
Dr. Kelley Hays-Gilpin and Mr. Dennis Gilpin are dedicated Amerind scholars whose work has benefitted our research and publications for decades. Both are active in other museum and academic communities as busy working archaeology professionals. Because they believe so strongly in Amerind’s mission, research, and impact on the community, their thoughtful choice when supporting our future is through a bequest in their will. Kelley and Dennis worked directly with Amerind staff to ensure our knowledge of their thoughtful plans and our ability to consider their gift in our own planning.

Thank you for considering a planned charitable gift as a way to share your own personal legacy with Amerind while advancing our mission far into the future. Please contact Amerind’s development office at [email protected] or 520-686-6172 for assistance with your long-term giving plans or to discuss the many ways that we can work together.

All planned giving language should include the following information to make sure your gift is designated as you wish.

The Amerind Foundation, Inc.
PO Box 400
Dragoon, AZ 85609
EIN: 86-0122680

There are many planned giving opportunities available to help you find the most meaningful way to be part of preserving our collections and inspiring our community through art, history, and Indigenous cultural heritage. Please work with your professional advisors, but the knowledgeable Amerind staff is available to assist you with the following.

  • Will and Estate Bequests–A dedicated amount or percentage of your estate that will directly benefit Amerind in your will.
  • IRA/401K Qualified Charitable Distribution–If you are 70 ½ or older, the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act is an opportunity to transfer up to $100,000 each year to charity without it being treated as a taxable distribution. Please contact your IRA administrator or call our director of philanthropy at 520-686-6172.
  • Stock Transfers–Gifts of appreciated securities can provide special tax advantages including a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the gift and avoidance of capital gains taxes.
  • Charitable Trust or Charitable Gift Annuity–You may choose to work with your attorney or estate planning professional on these mutually beneficial opportunities.

Amerind is fortunate that many community members have thought of us in their financial planning. Members, staff, scholars, volunteers, and people who just love the Amerind Museum are considering Amerind in their long-term financial planning. These gifts are vital in our plans for the future, from our collections, programming, and operations, through the care and critical improvements of our historic property and grounds.

If you wish to make your own private plans, the following language could be helpful as you work with your attorney, accountant,or estate planning professional. The language is merely a guide for you in your planning and is not intended as legal advice.
