Mata Ortiz Show & Sale with Oralia Lopez

Mata Ortiz Show & Sale
Featuring Master Potter Oralia Lopez
Friday, November 28th through Sunday, November 30th
10 am – 4 pm
Come out and meet Master Potter, Oralia Lopez from Mata Ortiz. Watch Oralia work and see all her beautiful new pottery creations. Oralia is a second-generation potter from Mata Ortiz, northern Chihuahua, Mexico, who learned to make pottery from her mother and older sister. She continues to make pottery using traditional methods, using locally derived mineral paints and white clay from the area. Her designs are inspired by prehistoric pottery shards found near Paquimé. Oralia is known for her incredibly intricate geometric designs and fine line work, making her one of the top potters from Mata Ortiz. She has shown her work across the US, and her pottery is in some of the top museums in the country, including the International Folk Art Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and the Mingei International Museum in San Diego, California.
We hope you will come out and meet Oralia and see her incredible work. Along with Oralia’s work, you will also see work from a select group of other potters from Mata Ortiz.
You may just be inspired to take something home! Remember, you do not pay sales tax on any purchases from Amerind. All your purchases directly support Amerind’s work with Indigenous artists, museum collections, and public programs.
